My goal is to share the less known side of Madagascar. Giving a voice to Malagasy and Malagasy-by-heart individuals who know that beyond the beaches, the ravinala, and the lemurs, there is a huge potential for growth.
Madagaskar is so much more…
Hello there! I am Stella and I am from… Madagascar.
When I tell people where I come from, I often get the same reaction: it must be such a beautiful country, what a pity it is so poor. This led me to think: yes, the country is poor, but it is not just that. Madagascar doesn’t have just two sides: the bright one being that it is a postcard, the dark one being that it is ranked 136th out of 167 countries by the Legatum Institute.
I often reply the same thing to people reacting that way: yes, it is beautiful, but we do have very rich people too. I came to realize that it is almost impossible to make them conceive that. In people’s mind, Madagascar is a poor and touristic country, and that’s basically it.
So why not educate about the so-called “poor countries”? Why not giving them an insight of how diverse and rich we are? Starting by the one I know the most, of course. This is the goal of this website: giving you a view of Madagascar which is not highlighted enough. Giving a voice to Malagasy and Malagasy-by-heart individuals who know that beyond the beaches, the ravinala, and the lemurs, there is a huge potential for growth.
